My TIME TRAVEL

My Time Travel

  • JUNE 2019

I started learning python, as it was the most famous language at that time. I learned the basics through a course named learn python with Mosh on youtube, a 6 hr long video, took 30 days to complete as I was not too efficient.
  • AUGUST 2019

The College started. Got busy with my college studies and some other stuff(admin block unnecessary shit) went without much programming
  • SEPTEMBER 2019

Got my mid-sem:< Got no time for programming(was just fooling myself here actually had enough time but youtube ah)and also 5-6 hrs travel daily(still fooling, actually was 5 hrs of travel and 4 of them in the metro, could do something but I didn't) Got an opportunity to teach 10th-grade students for 5000 bucks.
  • NOVEMBER 2019

Probably the worst month of my life(yeah, I know JEE time was rough). Got dengue, Had no idea about college studies and the end-sem going on, procrastinating everything, wasting time on youtube and other stuff, saying everyone that I am coding(a question in a a week and that too a super easy one) Now the teaching hobby sucks.
  • DECEMBER 2019

Started Competitive Coding, finally... with a friend of mine, knew nothing about him, met him on induction, and then started competitive coding with him. Great man, worked as a team, had a great time with him, made a best friend forever, thanks if you are reading this you palindrome string.
  • FEBRUARY 2020

Got 3 stars on CodeChef and started doing more competitive coding. Got my results of first sem, 6.9 CGPA, was broke confused, again procrastinating things, making them overcomplicated like only thinking about doing Data Structures but never actually did.
  • March 2020

Got my midterms again, this time was prepared, still got very low marks (15/30,12/25), again was broke now. But still did competitive coding. Got rid of the teaching
  • April 2020

Finally everything over and the lovely quarantine. Did competitive Coding to the fullest and had a good grasp on questions but still was not concentrating on data structures and algorithms, got 3400 rank in google kickstart(not at all a great achievement)Still planning. Special thanks to my new friend who was great at competitive coding as well as had boosting energy and I was really affected by him, thanks man if you seeing this article mastermind.
  • May 2020

Things began to sort. Learned HTML, CSS, some JAVASCRIPT. Really was overwhelmed by everything, wanted to utilize the most of my time. Actually got many skills, saw many videos on GSOC and other stuff, got ill again but still, got something in the box, let's hope for the best, meanwhile would hopefully get 4 stars in CodeChef
  • June 2020

Okay, so June is still not over, but I got a bunch of things. Joined a society named D_CODER and proposed a project for helping me and other competitive programmers around the globe. Got 4 stars in CodeChef but then dropped to three stars after just three contests(quite humiliating). Doing good in Codeforces got promoted to pupil from gray(would become cyan soon if I am not wrong, let's see). Got a bunch of to-do things, have to practice 1500-1900 rating tagged questions. Let's see what I get this month in the next months.
  • July 2020

July had a mixed feeling. I got a fever and all but it just passed, so no worries. Did much development work, made my own website where I can practice competitive programming at a lot more efficient way. Here is the link: Game of Codes
Made some algorithm visualizers and stuff. Joined many groups and communities, one from Chandigarh University! Great students out there!! I got frustrated at times as my rank at CodeChef was not increasing. Dropped to two stars and became a specialist in codeforces. Practiced a lot but would still say, NOT ENOUGH. Wasted my time on exploring things, like AI, ML, Android and stuff, but would say a really nice month, overall. Team members are useless unless you know them personally. Got a great friend, who can make the best-animated stuff. Discovered Many time-saving techniques, would definitely discuss in other blogs.
  • August 2020

This is the most frustating month. CLasses began and COLLEGE SUCKS!! My GPA is too low, so gotta prepare for exams. A good turn around for the exams were held in form of projects!! Brainstorming everyday with my palindrome friend and have a great idea in mind. Learning flutter for the same and having a bad time in competitive programming. BUt lt things go and see what I get. Organised a cntest at GeeksForGeeks. And that was FUN.
  • September 2020

This was a little bit fun and a little frustation. Class tests are on, and so is the cheating at its best. No pressure from tests at all, but a little bit from assignments and all, but that's ok. I finally released Game Of CODES at linkedin and the initial response is quite good and I am believing that its a good success in the marketplace as there is no other tool that is so intense. Though it has some bugs but the basic functionality is cool. Joined many other projects like Enactus' Unnati project, College Glance(Another DCODER Project lead by me only), ShowOn(Me and my cheating buddy have a great idea which can proove really just mindblowing, CodeKaksha(Another mindblowing Idea with my Palindrome Friend) and other college Projects going on. I think I would be complete all of them before the start of the next year. Got interviewed two times in a row and that was fun.
  • October 2020

Great month. Got 550+ users registered in GOC! Started learning flutter, react, MongoDB, Firebase, all at the same time! Though loaded, I am enjoying it a lot and am set with many new projects as well. GOC has not ended, with many things like community, visualizers, and ROADMAP to add. Have started all projects already. A new exciting startup idea by Ishan, Jayant, and me. Let's see what happens.
  • November 2020

Got 1k+ users in GOC! Actually, this month was full of decisions! I decided to quit the startup as I saw no good in it, quit Enactus as well(which I joined a month ago) as I was not getting time for my other projects. Have started a number of projects: BrainTeaser, Codekaksha, StartPage, ShowOn, College Glance. Maybe I am overburdening myself, but I am enjoying it! Saw a great movie "Shawshank Redemption". And joined DtuTimes, a great society. Although this month went a bit well, still, much to explore and learn!
  • December 2020

Free from College, I got a ton of things to do, but I think I got to busy to celebrate GOC success, I forgot that I am still very poor at Data structures and algo, restructured many times, made many todos but just was not able to concentrate, maybe because I was adding ton of things. But now, my new year resolution is being reasonable in my actions, and doing smart work. So the todo would be straight and reasonable: Practicing DSA regularly and doing DSA theory, writing blogs for GOC Roadmap, preparing for GsoC, developing my projects and yeah, having a burger sometimes. I just have to give each thing a timeline or I would end up winding. So yeah, that's it for dec.
  • january 2021

Maybe the best month, or the worst month. Won a hackathon but was disqualified from that hackathon for creating the repository a little early! Hard to believe, yet true. Launched GOC on product hunt, participated several hackathons, failed all. Improved my product, MeetnCode, still no results. But, never mind it's cool and I would keep trying. Got into an internship of two months which offers 8k per month. And here is the biggest part: Realised that I have done development enough and now its time to roar on data structures and become an expert or so. And I would do that 😠😠😠 and proove that I am a stubborn kid, but when challenged, this kid can get you goosebumps. Take it any way, but I am now fully motivated to rage on DSA. Also, Got my GPA: 8.73, not good considering online semester. This maybe a setback for me but: Ab kya hi kr skte hain.
  • Febraury 2021

Deppressing month! I don't know where it went! Published a blog on GeeksForGeeks. Here is the link. Did some CSES problems on DP. Learnt some interesting Algorithms. But what I am realising is lack of proper structured path in learning DSA. So, from now on, I would be regularly following a course on GFG and complete it in a month or so. Would make notes and all and be better at CP by practicing upsolve sections from my site. I don't know, I am a little confused and demotivated but would definitely roar this off!!!!
  • March 2021

I don't know, I just wasted a whole month on cartoons and stuff. The previous month I was all set for DSA but I literelly did nothing. Some web development, and some algorithms but that is not how I work. I thought of verything: doing random easy and medium questions on leetcode, upsolving from codeforces, doing standar algos through cp-algorithms, but everything seems to work fine and I just can't do all these things. Forget all, I am not able to do even one of these things. Perhaps, I am wasting too much time on Youtube. Watching funny 10 min clips, wasting 2-3 hrs in a stretch. And so, I am gonna focus this April, and improve myself for sure. Also, there is his one thing I wanna do in college: Making hardware projects mostly related to IoT or Electronics basically. But for now, I just want a good hold on Competitive Programming.
  • April 2021

Doing DSA is indeed very boring but i am doing it. Did some graphs and DP questions, and I am learning new DSA tricks which is kind of the only exciting thing. But here is the thing: I am not getting good at CP. This maybe because codeforces have much adhoc questions and maybe this is the reason for inconsistent ratings. But nevertheless, it was overall a nice month, just one regret: YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND VIDEO GAMES.
  • May 2021

okay, I did a lot of stuff this month. Started a new projct, Codeblast which is a spin off of Game of Codes, basically a feature of GOC where people can create contests. Recorded some lectures for DCODER youtube channel on Git and GitHub. Became Dev lead in DCODER. Made many presentations for college projects, and practiced Heap data structure. Now I have a simple plan to complete all my DSA before end of june, and after that just practice till I crack any intern. But this is the time to step out of my comfort zone and roar.
  • June 2021

Ahh, Internships!!!!! I set up to do 10-12 leetcode questions per day, CSES problemsets, GeeksForGeeks, learning many new things and standard questions. I was seeing me improve in DSA. This month was a hell of a practice on leetcode and DSA. Founded a new coding geek and we use to do daily targets. Like I send her 10-15 leetcode problems each day and we try to do as much as possible. Quite nice month, and yeah, 29th june- Google has arrived!!!
  • July 2021

The most deppressing month for me. I have failed various tests like Google, Sprinklr, CodeNation, Salesforce , and haven't been shortlisted for even appearing in tests in many companies including DE shaw, Tower Research, Curefit, Microsoft, Goldmann Sachhs, Atlassian, Arcesium. Many of my friends have been shortlisted and have recieved their intern offers from these companies. It's quite depressing to work so hard, and then due to something which we all know is not required particularly, we are not even given a chance to appear in tests. But that's okay, there are a lot of companies still coming, LinkedIn, Flipkart, Intuit, DevRev, Adobe, Walmart, Wells Fargo, EPIC Games, BNY, Directi, Media.net, etc. This month I learnt a lot about advanced algorithms, DSU, Euler Tour, Segment trees, DP with bitmasks, etc. and DBMS concepts as well. I should now concentrate on Operating Systems, OOPs, and problem solving.
  • August 2021

The best month. Finally Got the internship at VISA! The best feeling. Really. But now I am thinking of what should be my next lakshya. Everything is just looking possible now. Have started 2-3 projects and I am planning on improving my data structures and algorithms. A blogging site, a desktop application, a blog extension, and many more. I have some really cool ideas. And I am planning to make all these in this year only along with some codeforces. All in all, one of my best months. And still I wanted some goal, so I do have now. These projects, competitive coding and chilling a bit. I tried chilling 2-3 days, but it just don't work for me.
  • September 2021

Mixed feeling about this month. "Titled" with an intern, I don't have any pressure or I am sorted now but it is not at all like that. Not that visa is a bad firm or anything, but, I just don't have the next plan ready with me. Which really piss me off. Just think of a situation where you can do literally anything. Here is the real choice: I can either go for making my projects, along with an internship(which am doing currently(on a startup named webcube as backend intern)) or can improve my codeforces ratings and prepare for bigger companies as google itself. I know I cannot survive without great projects, and doing great stuff. But I now have a ton lot of ideas and I want to invest these 2 years judicially. Overall the month was lazy, it was all about making money. A very dumb month...
  • October 2021

This month went just doing the internship tasks and working on some side project, although I discarded it at end. Overall nothing exiciting except a trip to Rishikesh which was cancelled due to insufficient permissions from Mom. But did college studies and all, so no great things this month.
  • November 2021

Big Month! My elder bro's wedding. And finally a chance to just throw my money. Great enjoyment month, and I did enjoyed this a lot! Also, my stipend increased, more than 150% hike. And a great project to work on in internship! Also started learning Reactjs as well with my palindrome friend, Naman. Now, We are setup with our todo for a lot of exciting things to do.
  • December 2021

Learnt Reactjs a lot. And implemented on our new coddiction: coddiction.netlify.app . Also started different projects. Although this month was quite depressing as I have no idea what to do next and what not to do. There are a ton of things: ML, Hackathons, Freelancing, DSA, Reactjs and personal projects. So, I still don't have a fixed strategy and I need one immediately!!!
  • Jan - May 2022

Continued my work with Vansh. Had a great opportunity to work with Naman to work on a freelance project. It was quite an interesting project. Actually the main twist was that it was an offered intern to Naman which we negotiated to convert to a freelance project. The intern was of 3 months and we offered to complete the project in 1 month taking 3 month's money at once. It was quite fun to work on and we got inspiration to work on a quite interesting project Crudify. Crudify main aim was to automate backend processes like setting up the CRUD routes, Authentication routes, and API Docs and tests. We made it in two days actually as it was a project submission to one of our college profs. Actually I missed an important deadline which annoyed Naman and he actually stopped talking to me for 2 weeks straight. But I agreed to my fault and I think I needed it. There was a progress on my personal side as well. I got more fun, and improved my public speaking. I am not sure how it happened but it did happen. I became from a shy kind of guy to an open one.
  • May - July 2022

Finally got to do an intern at Visa in Bangalore. Was given free hotel to stay in along with 120 interns. I finally thought I landed on a great network. I think I did great there on a professional level. I asked everyone about their project but after a while, I think people started thinking me of a nerd and I didn't want that image all over again as I had that since my childhood. It doesn't affect me a lot what people think of me but I experimented with my behaviour this time. I actually got from an introvert who loved to be left alone and do coding and stuff, to an extrovert guy who can talk about any topic related or unrelated to coding. I really transformed myself a lot and people who knew me before Visa actually noticed it. I actually initiated trips, united groups and talked to strangers with ease, and eventually became the most "backchod" person of the group. Went to clubs and all, but actually didn't drink at all. All this was hell interesting as I was in experiment phase but I actually got to know much things about people. People believe what they see. If you act kind and humble, they will walk all over you. Also, it's not always important to help out people. They have brains and you can just guide them, never actually do their work or they would take you as granted. Another thing, people do think about your actions, a lot. But it doesn't actually matter. There are only 4 or 5 people apart from family who, if they stopped talking to you, would actually affect me. Otherwise, just let people go. Also, being silent and observing is important but being expressive when needed is also important. You can not always be silent, or people will assume you dumb. Although I didn't actually learnt a lot in tech side, but I learnt a hell lot of things about people behaviour and how to be in a society. I also started watching Attack on titan.
  • August 2022

Perhaps the most boring month! I got my PPO from Visa on July and now I cannot apply to other companies, and there is no hope for me left to crack something offcampus as there is a great tech recession. I thought about working in a startup and joined one, but I then quit it. I think it was a month in which I was pumped up to make trips but after making 2-3 trips, I realised I am not that type of person anymore I used to be at Visa. I now valued my personal time and didn't actually want to go to trips. I am good alone.
  • Sep 2022

I started applying to internships for October to December and asked my Visa HR to extend an offer for Winter internship. I was successfull at convinving him to give the offer for Jan - July 2023. So, I would eventually not be at college from Jan which means my college life would end in December only. Gonna miss this. But apart from that, I got shortlisted for 2-3 companies, they were all startups but after the interviews, sometimes I thought the pay was not good, and I got rejected in one. Overall the month was cool and good. Actually, there were some days I had to be in hostel to help my 2 friends in interviews and tests.
  • October 2022

Finally got to go on a trip with my 2 close friends. There were some clashes at first with a bigger group but then we eventually decided to go to amritsar, just us three. After that I accepted an internship offer from AUmyaa. They were giving 40k per month, which was a great offer for me at that point. I did intern for last 15 days of October and earned 20k bugs. But the codebase is not that mature and there is no senior leadership as well.
  • November 2022

Got to my first offline hackathon! It was actually great fun to attend. I couldn't do it with Naman or my cointern at aumyaa or visa as they were all busy, so I picked my three backchod friends and went to hackathon to actually get to have fun. Also, gave them party for the placement. Also, did some work for Aumyaa. I have to now work on my btech project which we are thinking of a presentation analyser or rather a rehearse coach which can give feedbacks on someone's presentation, how he is presenting, what should be the pace and all.
  • December 2022

Best trip on Manali! We messed up badly in our Btech Project. But made a wonderful thing for Aumyaa with Ishan. We worked on making a workflow automation tool. Basically we can create workflow and an endpoint will be only allowed when a person gets all the approvals. The approval process hits as soon as the person hits the endpoint with his account. Excited and a little bit sad for joining Visa as 6 month intern. College life ends here, i guess.
  • January 2023

Best farewell I ever recieved!(I think it is the first one so technically no competition, but it was still the best one). Started with the office things. I recieved a Macbook from office, so would have to learn the commands there. Actually I am comfortable enough with Mac now. I am felling kinda bored and I think I will be starting with crudify frontend soon. Also a nice Chikmangolore trip with didi and her friends.
  • February 2023

Started off with crudify frontend! It's a simple UI but a tough dragging concept, with maintaining all those relations and stuff. I am trying to make it as professional as I can. Learning some new hooks like useReducer. I am thinking of making the backend in Django/Go. I am taking it very slow though
  • March 2023

    >Went home from Blr! Holi time! Overall a very stressfull month. My mom's health is not good, my father lost his job. We all went to Vaishno Devi. Let's pray for the best. I created the crudify core API and maybe I am almost finished with the frontend. Though I am using coding as the way to escape from all this stress.
  • April 2023

I had to go to my hometown again. My mother got really ill and there is a chance of an operation, and I can't really be in Bangalore, miles apart when my family is in trouble. It went throughout studying about Open Telemtry, Grafana and Prometheus, though at the end I was told we are not going to do anything about it in office. Also, I am completed with Crudify and I think I should try my hands with open source and other things than creating useless projects
  • May 2023

Farewell time! I wore formals first time in life with my friends(okay, I don't consider school uniform as formals, and I had no friends in school). It was quite good and actually boosted my confidence a lot. I worked hard in office this month on UAR(User access revalidation). It is nice to lead the UI of this app, gained respect from my manager and coworkers.

Competitive Prograaming From 1000 rating to 2400+

Okay, so let's talk about some strategies for competitive programming. I was once a gray coder as I was totally new to programming when I entered codeforces. FROM GRAY TO GREEN:     First of all, you need to be good at brute force and implementation. If you are a complete beginner then do 20-30 800-1200 problems and you will b good at solving A level problems in 5-10 minutes. The try to do B in a live contest in 15-30 minutes only. By only this you can shift your rating to 1200 or so. FROM GREEN TO CYAN Now, to increase your speed you just need to practice more A and B level problems. As you are now quite confident of solving A and B level problems you must now try C also which is generally of 1400-1700 rating. This require some special techniques such as prefix sum, or some simple trick methods for reducing time complexity. Now the mistake I did was I tried to learn more advanced data structures such as graphs, trees, KMP algorithm, etc and that wasn't ne...
